Here’s a look back at some of the highlights of 2026 so far, and a sneak peek ahead at what’s still to come.
‘Hokum’ Releases Worldwide
Following its world premiere in the Midnighter Section at SXSW in March, ‘Hokum’ was released in cinemas across the US, Canada, the UK and Ireland on 1 May, before rolling out in additional territories soon after.
Directed by Damian McCarthy (Oddity, Caveat), ‘Hokum’ stars Adam Scott alongside an outstanding Irish cast including David Wilmot and Peter Coonan. The film follows Ohm, a reclusive horror writer, who travels to a remote Irish hotel to scatter his parents’ ashes, only to become entangled in unsettling local lore surrounding the ramshackle building. As strange visions intensify and a mysterious disappearance occurs, Ohm is drawn deeper into the hotel’s secrets and is forced to confront both a malevolent supernatural presence and the unresolved trauma of his past.
The film was shot at West Cork Film Studios and produced alongside Spooky Pictures founders Roy Lee and Steven Schneider, and Image Nation's Derek Dauchy. Executive producers include Ben Ross, Dan Kagan, Rami Yasin, Andrew Childs and Creature Features, with NEON handling international distribution.
The response to the film has been fantastic. ‘Hokum’ currently holds a “Certified Fresh” 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Grossing almost five times its budget and reaching the top 5 at the US box office, ‘Hokum’ has been featured on countless ‘best of’ lists online and has been part of the international conversation surrounding ‘horror’s big moment this year. According to FlixPatrol, the film has spent more than 40 days on the domestic iTunes chart following its PVOD debut.
It's been wonderful to see audiences around the world embrace the film, and we're especially grateful to the many loyal fans and artists who have shared incredible work inspired by the film.

‘Der Irland Krimi’ Series 7 wraps production
Production has officially wrapped on the seventh series of Der Irland-Krimi. Produced in partnership with Goodfriends Filmproduktions GmbH on behalf of ARD Degeto for ARD, the acclaimed German-Irish crime drama returns with two brand-new feature-length episodes airing later this year.
Starring Désirée Nosbusch, the series continues to enjoy tremendous success with audiences, and we're delighted to be bringing another chapter to the screen.
It's a privilege to collaborate once again with our German partners on a series with such longevity.
‘Ar Ais Arís’ enters production!
Cameras are now rolling on ‘Ar Ais Arís’, our new 8 x half hour Celtic sci-fi Irish language series for young audiences.
Created by our Development Manager Cal McGhee, the series is written by Cal and co-written by ‘Louise Lives Large’ writer Sian Ní Mhuirí and Portuguese writer Joana Alves, with creative consultancy from Ted Sullivan (‘Star Trek: Discovery’, ‘Riverdale’, ‘The Interrogator’).
A co-production between Tailored Films and Portugal's beActive Media, ‘Ar Ais Arís’ will air on TG4 and NOS next year, with further worldwide distribution handled by Beta Film - who will rep the series at MIPCOM this October.
We're also delighted to share that the series was one of only seven European projects to have been selected under the Council of Europe’s fourth season of the Pilot Programme for Series Co-Productions, which backs TV series that “strengthen cultural dialogue through storytelling”. We are thrilled to have secured such a competitive fund and are so grateful for the immense support the series has received from TG4/Cúla4, Creative Europe, Screen Ireland, NOS, ICA, Coimisúin na Meán, the Section 481 Tax credit, the Portuguese Cash rebate, and the Council of Europe.
Filming is currently underway in Co. Galway, led by directors Eamonn Norris and Bruno Oliveira alongside an incredibly talented cast and crew who have really given their all to the shoot. Stay tuned for further updates as production continues.
Team Expansion and Upskilling
We’ve also been delighted to celebrate several milestones across Team Tailored this year.
Jamie Hickey has joined the company as Development and Production assistant, working closely with Ruth and Cal to aid and expand the film and TV slate. He has been a key contributor to several successful applications now and is already a valuable asset to the team.
Mairtín de Barra was selected for the prestigious Puttnam Scholars Programme, led by Academy Award-winning producer Lord David Puttnam, acclaimed for films such as ‘Chariots of Fire’. Selection also includes a bursary to attend the 2026 Berlinale Festival and European Film Market (EFM).
Julianne Forde represented Ireland as this year's Producer on the Move, joining fellow producers from across Europe during the Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival.
Meanwhile, Cal McGhee was announced as one of the recipients of this year's BBC Writersroom Voices programme, recognising exciting new writing talent from across the UK and Ireland. Part of this year’s Belfast hub, his project was one of only a few selected from over 6,000 submissions.
Looking ahead
2026 is showing no signs of slowing down. Production on a new international co-production is set to begin in the coming months. Preparations are also well underway on another feature film, currently targeting production in the first quarter of 2027.
